"The One Project was the doorway to me meeting my bestfriends in college, as well as getting me involved with the LGBT community, two things that made up the majority of my first 2 years." -Jazz, Class of 2014
In 2011, The One Project and The LGBT Equity Center received a generous donation from an alumni donor to establish a fund to provide support for programs and initiatives within the LGBTQ community.
Portions of this donation go towards student leadership development and community engagement. Throughout the year, grants may be given to students to attend various LGBTQ-related conferences and activities nationwide. Past conferences have included UMD's Queer Camp, the national Creating Change Conference, Queer People of Color Conference in Los Angeles, CA, and The One Project Alternative Spring Break Experience.
If you find a conference or event that is not offered officially and think that your attendance will significantly and positively affect the UMD campus community and would like to be considered for a scholarship, please submit a complete Conference Submission Form, found here.
